1. What age groups/grades do you serve?
We currently field teams starting at 5th grade (11U) with plans to expand into other grade levels as the program grows.
2. How do I register my player?
Registration is completed online through our secure Parent Portal (coming soon). You’ll need to provide player information, parent/guardian contacts, and complete AAU membership before the first practice.
3. What are the player eligibility requirements?
For the 2025 season, 11U / 5th Grade players must be born on or after September 1, 2013 and be enrolled in the 5th grade.
4. How much does it cost to play?
Season fees vary depending on league schedules, tournaments, and team size.
5. What’s included in player fees?
Uniform (jersey + shorts)
Practice gym time (2 practices per week)
Tournament team entry fees
1 tournament per month

6. Do you offer financial assistance or payment plans?
We are working on assistance programs, at this time we do not have any availavle. Our fee is structured to cover cost with mild stipend for coaches time. This is not a profit oriented program.
7. Who are the coaches?
Our head coach is Coach Kurt, an experienced AAU, youth, and high school basketball coach focused on peak player development. Alex & Monica Demitras serve as program directors, occasional assistant Coach, and handling operations / administration.
8. How are coaches compensated?
We value our coaches’ time and expertise. Coach compensation is structured through both guaranteed pay and profit sharing, ensuring they are rewarded for their dedication and leadership.
9. What leagues and tournaments will the team play in?
We play in the YBDL (Youth Basketball Development League) two weekends per month, plus one competitive tournament each month when available. We believe in developing our team to compete at a challenging level.
10. How does Lacey NorthStar Hoops differ from other clubs?
Player Development Focus – guided by the “North Star” principle of growth on and off the court.
Community-Centered – local roots in the South Sound/JBLM/Lacey area.
Transparency – clear budget, fair coaching compensation, and reinvestment in the program.
11. What is AAU and why do players need membership?
AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) provides the national framework for competitive youth sports, including basketball. Every player and coach must have an AAU membership for insurance coverage and eligibility.
